Founded in 1998, Amélys is a non-profit social economy organization (NPO).
Amélys has grown from a small social economy enterprise with a dozen employees offering exclusively housekeeping services in Saint-Hubert, to over 200 employees providing a wide range of homecare services throughout much of the South Shore, as well as in residences on the island of Montreal.
Founded in 1998, Amélys is a non-profit social economy organization (NPO) that now employs over 200 people at heart.
Amélys is resolutely committed to the well-being of its employees, who particularly appreciate the organization's human and personalized approach, flexible working hours, recognition program and innovative working conditions. They are motivated to help as many people as possible and to embody the organization's values on a daily basis.
Amélys is also recognized by the RAMQ as a entreprise d'économie sociale en aide domestique (EÉSAD), enabling our customers to benefit from assistance programs such as the Financial Assistance Program for Domestic Help Services (FAPDHS).
In 1998, Services d'aide domestique de Saint-Hubert was incorporated as a non-profit social economy organization.
Until 2006, the services offered were primarily home assistance for light housekeeping and seasonal heavy work aimed at helping seniors.
Over the years, the organization would grow and expand its territory to include Longueuil, Brossard, LeMoyne, Saint-Lambert, Greenfield Park and Boucherville.
Starting in 2007, the organization continued its expansion by adding personal assistance services to its offering, which this time included a range of care aimed for seniors and their caregivers.
This may involve assistance with hygiene, activities to stimulate walking or eating, help with taking medication, or respite for caregivers.
Over the years, we have forged strong partnerships with various organizations in the healthcare sector, enabling us to offer services to a wider range of customers.
In 2008, Amélys received financial support from L'Appui for its respite program for caregivers.
A perfect complement to personal assistance services, respite for caregivers is fast becoming one of the organization's flagship services, thanks to its practicality and, above all, the concrete help it provides to the families of persons with autonomy challenges.
The service rapidly expanded over a wide area, increasingly meeting the needs of its clients.
The time had come to find a name that fits with the broader scope of the organization's activities.
In 2012, Services d'aide domestique de Saint-Hubert was renamed Amélys. A name invented from scratch, chosen for its gentle consonance, like a feminine first name and evocative of a human and empathetic approach.
Following a request from a Longueuil residence looking for a partner to prepare collective meals, Amélys considered the possibility of adding this service to the range of assistance programs already offered to seniors.
In the same spirit of mutual aid, the company could thus offer a complementary service at lower cost to its customers. As of 2019, three residences have chosen to entrust us with the management of their food services. As needs grew, Amélys decided to add a regional manager to the existing team. While initially, food service management services only included the preparation and serving of collective meals, today it also offers a turnkey service including purchasing, hiring, management of kitchen and dining room staff, as well as all administrative aspects.
By 2025, our food service management service has been implemented in 10 residences on the South Shore and in Montreal.
In 2023, Amélys celebrated its 25th anniversary. We've come a long way! Our determination to provide quality homecare services to seniors remains unwavering.
We have received your request for home help and you are now on our waiting list. We will contact you as soon as we are able to offer you service.
